The L2 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations – Slinger/Signaller (Construction) course is designed to confirm the competency of learners in the skills and knowledge required to safely and effectively control lifting operations as a slinger/signaller in construction environments. Assessment and Certification:
This qualification is suitable for individuals working in the construction industry who are responsible for controlling lifting operations as slingers/signallers and are required to upgrade their Trained Operator cards or require an NVQ to confirm their competency.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive the L2 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations – Slinger/Signaller (Construction), demonstrating their competence in controlling lifting operations in construction environments.
The qualification covers 2 mandatory units – Conforming to Health and Safety in the Workplace and Conforming to Productive Working Practices and 1 optional unit covering the slinging and signalling and movement of loads in the workplace.
Participants must have experience of Slinger/Signaller duties, site experience and an understanding of construction principles and lifting operations.
Assessment is carried out through a portfolio of evidence, including observations, witness testimonies, and work products. Participants will be assessed by qualified assessors to ensure they meet the required standards for certification.

A Slinger/Signaller is responsible for selecting and inspecting lifting accessories, attaching and securing loads, and directing crane operators using standard hand signals and communication methods. They play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of lifting operations.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive the L2 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations – Slinger/Signaller (Construction), demonstrating their competence in controlling lifting operations in construction environments.
The course duration is normally 1 day – as long as the site requirements are met and a room is available for the theoretical element of the assessment
